There is a difference between love and infatuation. Many interchanges these two words “Love and lust”, thinking they are the same.
Infatuation, often called “Love at first sight” varies from love.

A great interest and pleasure in something”
They are some idiosyncrasy of love. I call it the true description of love. They are the things that truly define affection.

Definitions of love
Love is “a deep, strong and uncontrollable feeling of deep affection for somebody or something”
It involves many different feelings but generally, when one loves, one avoids hurting others.
One will not force the other person to do anything he/she does not want to do. Love is a warm affectionate feeling, attachment or likeness for oneself and others.
3 Major Types of love
I shall emphasize on the 3 major types of love. They are other types of love such as Self-love, comfortable love, complete love etc. But the followings are the 3 major types of love.
1. PHILIA LOVE:
The word “Philia” is a Greek word which means “Fondness”
Philia Love is friendship love. It is the type of affection you express to your friends and loved ones. You can also describe it as ‘brotherly love’.
This type of love is normally expressed towards people you know. It could be your co-workers, friends, family members or even neighbours. This category of love is based mostly on loyalty, respect, sacrifices etc.
Your friends, family members or even you yourself love and admire those who appropriately admire you back also.
2. EROS LOVE:
Eros love also called ‘Romantic Love’ involves intimacy.
It is the category of love between lovers, couple, or people in a romantic relationship.
It is based on sexual desire but does not necessarily mean it is all about sex.
Eros love emanates from the Greek word ” Erotas” which means “Intimate love”. This type of love is associated with intimacy, passion and desire.
In Plato’s description of Eros love, he argued that it is a common desire that strives for transcendental beauty.
He went further to divide it (Eros love) into 2 namely; Vulgar Eros and Divine Eros.
Vulgar Eros according to Plato is “Physical attraction towards the beautiful body for pleasure and reproduction.
Divine Eros means ” Love for supreme beauty”.
The most crucial thing to consider in Eros Love is that it is associated with intimacy.
It is usually based on sexual feelings but does not necessarily involve sex.
3. AGAPE LOVE:
Agape love can also be called “Divine Love” or “Natural Love”
It is not based on physical attraction or whatsoever. It is the natural love divinity has for humanity.
Agape love exists between God and man. Agape love emanates from both Philia and Eros love.
Remember I stated earlier that Eros love does not necessarily involve sex but intimacy. Intimacy means “closeness or friendship.
Therefore, Agape love is the paternal love God has for humanity.
For this purpose, God gave his only begotten son to die for the sins of the whole world. God’s love (Agape love) is natural and unconditional.
This type of love is wide. It has no boundary irrespective of your background, sex, religion, etc.
